Update: February 15th, 2009
A growing trend in the travel industry is the use of which vacation rentals are rented out by private vacation rental owners. The reason why vacation rentals are becoming increasingly popular is due to the fact that people can look specifically at vacation rentals based on their personal traveling needs. People have the option to have some ameneities and conveniances that most hotels can't offer. One of the major things that more and more people are needing during their travels place that can sleep many people. More and more travelers are arranging family/friend get- togethers in which they may need to sleep up to 16 people or more. Many vacation rentals owners allow the number of people staying at their rental properties to split the price for the stay. Another reason why vacation rentals are becoming more popular is because the pricing is very competetive between vacation rental owners. They are all trying to fill up their calender with vacancies to create a profit at the end of the year. This may mean that a vacation rental browser may be able to find some last minute deals on a great rental. Another important factor that attracts people to vacation rentals is privacy. Vacation rentals are usually owned and operated by property managers which means most of them operate just like a hotel, except without all the hustle and bustle that hotels bring. Not only are more families using vacation rentals, but traveling business men and women who may need to spend the night in another city for work related reasons are finding vacation rentals conveinant. If you enjoy traveling a lot, you may even want to invest in buying your own rental property. A growing trend between vacation rental owner is a traveling technique called "house swapping".This is where two rental/home owners swap rentals at the same time of the year and avoid paying for a hotel. Here are a few question you should ask yourself if you plan on renting a vacation rental:

1. Are you traveling for business or Leisure?

2. Where are you traveling to?

3. Are you bringing family or friends?

4. How many people will you need to sleep?
